Nominated and Elected Vice Chair of Kentucky Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section

I am pleased and honored to have been nominated and elected during our Section Annual Meeting yesterday to the office of Vice Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section, for the remainder of the current term, after having served two terms as Treasurer. I am looking forward to my involvement in the organization and development of the additional professional development and continuing legal education (CLE) content for this year which will focus on mediation and international enforcement.

Appointed a Member of the ABA Dispute Resolution Section ODR Task Force Working Group III

I am honored to be appointed a Member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Dispute Resolution Section Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Task Force Working Group III, Guidance with Respect to Special Issues Relating to ODR.

Working Group III is developing standards for the application of technology to dispute resolution processes and practices to enable equitable high quality access to justice and to relationship healing processes.

The Singapore Convention will enter into force six months after the third signatory state to ratify it.

The Singapore Convention on Mediation Is in Motion

The Singapore Convention is expected to benefit international trade, and businesses choosing mediation as a dispute resolution process in settling their cross-border commercial disputes, by providing a formerly nonexistent framework to facilitate the invocation by parties, and enforcement by the courts of State Parties to the Convention, of international settlement agreements resulting from mediation.

The Convention is also intended to promote the use of mediation as an efficient and flexible option to arbitration and litigation in settling international commercial disputes.
